Potato  Meal

This home cooked meal is an alternative to the traditional chicken and rice mixture often recommended for diarrhea. For short term use only.    

3 white potatoes and 3 sweet potatoes of about equal sizes, cut in small chunks   

1 small turnip and 1 small leek, both cut in small slices

Boil until softened, stirring often. Add a very small amount of boiled ground beef, turkey, or chicken for flavor at time of serving. Feed approximately the same amount as your dog's regular diet. Feed as the only solid food for a few days or until the stool returns to normal. Mix 50 - 50 with your dog's regular   for 1-2 days before returning to the  regular diet.  If diarrhea persists or you have any concerns, contact your veterinarian immediately.
